inSourdough starter finally clicked after a baker's offhand comment
Pineapple juice is a solid reset but the reason it works is the acidity, not some magic in the fruit. That nail polish smell means your starter went way too far into the boozy/acetone zone because the yeast burned through the flour and had nothing left but its own waste. A splash of juice drops the pH fast and knocks the bad stuff back so the good wild yeast can get a foothold again. You can get the same effect with a little bit of lemon juice or even just a pinch of citric acid if you have it in the pantry. The real fix long term is feeding it more often and keeping it a bit thicker so it doesn't get that hungry. But yeah, using juice as a one time rescue is a legit old trick, you're just not late.

inPSA: the dispatcher in Dallas quoted me $650 on the phone, then the driver showed up asking for $1,100 cash
This is the same thing that happened with my internet bill last year, where the price they advertise is never the price you pay and somehow that's just legal now. Every company seems to have figured out that a quote is not a promise, it's just a number to get you in the door, and the fine print is where they hide the real cost. Moving is extra bad because your stuff is already on the truck, so what are you supposed to do, tell them to unload it on the street? You're basically held hostage at that point and they know it. Get everything in writing with a hard number and refuse to pay a dime over it, and if they try to hold your stuff, that's when you call the cops or a lawyer.
