Showerthought: the dispatcher in Toledo who told me to stop being nice to the transport driver
I had a car shipped from Ohio to Arizona back in March and the dispatcher at the broker gave me a piece of advice I still chew on. When I asked about tipping the driver who showed up with my car, she told me flat out "don't hand him cash at the door, put it on the review and call me first if anything looks off." Felt cold to me at the time, like she was telling me not to trust the guy. But when the driver rolled in 6 hours late and the front bumper had a scuff that wasn't on my pickup photos, I called her before handing over anything, and she had the claim moving the same afternoon. Turns out the tip wasn't about being rude, it was about keeping leverage until the car was signed off clean. I've moved two cars since then and I do it her way each time, photos first, payment after, review at the end. Curious if other folks here tip drivers at delivery or wait till the inspection is done.
