Warning: my kitchen fire drill took 6 hours to fix a 2 minute mistake

So last Friday I tried to make popcorn for movie night and set the oil too high. Smoke detectors went off, my cat bolted, and I spent the next 6 hours scrubbing grease off the ceiling and wiping down every surface with vinegar. The sad part is I only wanted to rewatch The Core, not redecorate my kitchen. Has anyone else had a simple snack turn into a whole restoration project before the bad movie even started?

Man, that grease ceiling cleanup is no joke, I've been there with bacon and it took me forever too. The vinegar trick is solid but honestly a degreaser spray works way better if you let it sit for a few minutes first. My trick now is to always set a timer and stand right there until the popcorn's done, cause once you walk away it's game over.
