Clipper over comb then vs now, who's with me?

I used to freehand everything with my Andis Masters, no guards, just going off feel and it was a mess half the time. Switched to clipper over comb about 3 years ago after a client in Austin complained about choppy layers, and it took me a solid 6 months to trust it. Does anyone else think the older method gives more texture but the newer one is way safer for speed?
