Refusing a mohawk on a sobbing toddler was my hard line

I think barbers should never force a cut that clearly upsets a kid, even if the parent pushes for it. That mom got really angry, but I stuck to my guns on that one.

I get why barbers listen to parents, since they're paying. But kids have feelings too. Like, my cousin wanted his hair spiked but his mom said no, so he got a boring cut. He was upset for days. Barbers should sometimes hear kids out, especially if it's not a big deal. It's about balance, you know?

Barbershops typically view the parent as the customer who pays for the service. Young kids often cry during haircuts, but they forget about it minutes later. Following the parent's direction is part of doing the job they hired you for.
