The old barber down on 5th swore by a straight razor for necklines, and I finally tried it
I always thought straight razors were just for show or old movies, so I kept using my trimmer and getting those little razor bumps on clients' necks. This older guy named Sal who has been cutting hair longer than I have been alive told me to try a straight razor with a light touch and a hot towel first. I was skeptical because I thought I would nick someone, but after doing it on 10 guys I realized the neckline comes out way cleaner and the bumps cleared up. I still keep the trimmer for the bulk of the work, but that razor is now part of my routine. Anyone else make the switch late, or am I the only one who waited this long?
