Pro tip: don't trust those 'free games' from random installer sites
I grabbed what looked like a free copy of SimCity 4 from a random site last weekend, thinking I'd save $5 on GOG. Turned out it packed a crypto miner that slowed my whole PC to a crawl and took me 2 hours to scrub off with Malwarebytes. Anyone else had a similar run-in with a shady 'free' game download?

That "save $5 on GOG" move got you, but I've had great luck with free games from legit sites like Itch.io without any issues.

Itch.io is honestly underrated for free stuff. You get actual indie gems there, not just shovelware. Plus no DRM nagging you to buy DLC every five minutes. Feels more like a real community than a storefront.
