My UPS runtime reading was off by 47 minutes, found it by accident

I upgraded my office setup in Austin last week and plugged a cheap kill-a-watt meter into my UPS just to check the load. Turns out the battery was 6 years old and only holding 30% of its rated capacity, which explains why my NAS shut down during a 3 minute flicker. Anyone else ever verify their backup runtime with a meter and find a nasty surprise?

Damn, I always figured those runtime ratings were just marketing fluff, but now I get why checking real numbers actually matters.
