Pro tip: a $40 clamp meter saved my whole desk build
Bought an old used clamp meter for $40 at a pawn shop in Reno when I was redoing my cable runs behind the desk. It caught a 3 amp draw on a strip that turned out to be a sketchy power brick hiding under the riser. Swapped the brick and my setup stopped buzzing every time the monitor woke up. I almost skipped the meter because it felt like overkill for a desk. How do you all test for phantom draws without pulling every cable out?
Tbh I've noticed the same thing with cars and weird noises, half the time you just need the right cheap tool to stop guessing. Phantom draws are like that, you can't feel them out by unplugging stuff one by one forever.
