Walked into the Micro Center in Parkville last Saturday and counted 14 keyboards with the cables zip-tied straight into the stand
I went in just to grab a pack of velcro straps and ended up standing in the keyboard aisle for 20 minutes. Every single display model had the cable pulled tight and zip-tied to the shelf rail, so nobody could even move them around to test the angle. Two of the boards had the ties so tight the cable was bending at like 90 degrees right at the connector. I get that stores need to stop people from walking off with stuff, but there has to be a better way than this. Does your local store do the same thing, or is this just a Parkville problem? I'm honestly worried I'm going to buy a board that already has a beat up cable.
Man, yes, this drives me nuts too. The Micro Center near me does the exact same thing (zip ties on every single board, pulled tight as a drum), and I've seen cables kinked right where they meet the plug. The worst part is you can't even tilt the thing to see if the feet are any good (which is half the reason to try one in person). I started flipping the boxes over and checking the cable in the back before I buy, because who knows how long it sat there bent like that. Stores could just use those little security clamps with some slack, but I guess that costs more than a bag of ties.
