I'd double check that if I were you, because a lot of towns only stopped taking glass at the curb but still have a drop off spot somewhere else in town. Ours did that a couple years back and everybody just assumed glass was done for good, then come to find out the transfer station still had a bin for it the whole time. Worth a quick call to the town office before you start tossing jars in the trash, since glass is one of the few things that actually gets recycled over and over without losing quality. If they really did stop taking all of it, that's a whole different problem and yeah, people need to know either way.

Did you ever check if the techs were actually hearing the beam wrench click or just feeling for the bend? A buddy of mine ran a small repair shop over in Salina and had the same thing happen with his guys. He swore by those old beam wrenches for years until he sent a batch out for cal and half of them were reading way off after getting knocked around in toolboxes. What got him was that the beam style doesnt give you that solid click, so on a busy day a guy torques it by feel and thinks hes good when hes really under. He switched to click types too and made everybody zero them out after each use, and his comeback rate dropped off a cliff. The quiet part is the scary part with beams, you cant tell its bad just by looking at it.
