Found 37 bottle caps in one 50-yard stretch, now I get why folks keep track
I used to think people logging every item were just being extra, but after my last cleanup at Mission Bay I pulled 37 bottle caps alone from a tiny strip of sand. That tiny number added up to nearly a pound of just plastic lids, which made me realize how specific data actually shows hotspots nobody notices. Has anyone else had a weird item that turned out to be everywhere once you started counting it?

37 bottle caps from a tiny strip of sand is wild, that's almost one every few feet! And a whole pound just from plastic lids? That blows my mind, you never think about how heavy all that little stuff adds up to. I had the same thing happen with straws at my local beach, I counted 60 in like 20 minutes once I actually started looking. It's crazy how your eyes just skip over certain items until you force yourself to notice them.
