inFound a 5-year-old jar of pickled beets in the back of the pantry
Yeah, next time tape the lid shut before you open it. Saves you from redecorating the kitchen in fermented bean juice.

inAfter 6 months of screwing up forge welds it finally clicked today
Nod your head and pretend like it was all skill and not pure dumb luck, right? I had the exact same problem with a mild steel billet - kept getting those cold shuts that looked fine until you hit them. Turns out I was being too careful with the heat, not letting it get to that almost-melting point where the flux actually does its job (who knew, right?). Now I just crank it until the sparks start flying and pray the neighbors don't call the fire department.

inRope vs. spikes for a massive dying oak last month
I read somewhere that climbers say "spikes are for dead trees and rope is for dying ones" and your story with that hollow oak proves it. That fall sounds BRUTAL, glad you're still around to talk about it even if the ankle took a beating.

inDebate: Did my fridge dying force me to finally clean it out or was that a blessing?
All those mystery containers" is the real kicker here. I'm curious though, how many of those containers did you actually open and immediately regret smelling? Because for me, that's the difference between a blessing and just another chore. Did you find anything that made you go "oh yeah, I remember making that three weeks ago" or was it all just science experiments at that point?

inSpent 30 minutes trying to pair my earbuds before realizing they were in my jacket pocket the whole time
Hold on a minute. I have to push back here a little. Calling this "user error" kind of lets the companies off the hook for making things so complicated. Bluetooth pairing is still a mess, and the interface on your phone gave you no clue at all that the earbuds weren't nearby. It's not dumb to trust the screen versus digging through your pockets. Plus, every gadget has a different way to pair, and they change it every year. The real problem is bad design, not bad users. We shouldn't have to feel stupid for following what the software shows us.
