My regular spot went from 14 bags to 3 bags in 6 months
I've been doing the same stretch of sand near Newport Pier every other Sunday, and back in March I was hauling out 14 bags of mostly straws and bottle caps. Yesterday I counted 3 bags, and the weird part is the city didn't add any new bins or signs. Has anyone else seen their cleanup numbers drop that fast, or is it just tourist season timing?
Damn, 14 to 3 is a wild drop. Like, that's not a small change, that's a whole different beach. I gotta wonder if the city did something quietly, maybe changed the sand grooming schedule or something. Or honestly, maybe those big storms earlier in the year pushed all the junk further north or buried it. I've seen that happen where the trash just gets covered up and then shows up again later. Either way, I'd be side-eyeing my next few trips to see if it stays low or if it was just a one-off fluke.
