The pier at Seacliff State Beach is a plastic bottle magnet
Went out with the Santa Cruz group last Saturday and we pulled 47 plastic bottles from just under the pier pilings. They wedge in there and break apart so you end up with tiny bits mixed with sand. Anyone found a good tool for getting those micro pieces out without sieving everything?
Try a cat litter scoop with the fine mesh holes, it grabs the tiny bits without sifting pounds of sand. I used one on a creek bank cleanup and it saved my back big time. Just shake it gently and the sand falls through while the plastic stays put.
