Rant: that $8 coconut oil mask stripped my color like crazy

Tried a cheap coconut oil deep treatment before dyeing my hair last week and it somehow yanked out all my semi permanent red. My stylist in Portland said oil breaks down dye molecules before they bond. Anyone else have a natural oil wreck their fresh color?
