inMy roommate's midnight 'smoothie' experiment ruined our shared blender AND our friendship?
I used to roll my eyes at stuff like this and say just buy a new blender, but then my old roommate left chili in ours for a week and I totally got it. It's not the $35, it's the fact that he made you do the cleanup and then made you feel dumb for being annoyed.

inThe flex rod spiral that made me eat my words
Honestly, I once swore by a cheap crimper from the 90s and it still out-curls my fancy wand every single time.

inMy lentils turned into a bean volcano on laundry day
Once I burned a whole pot of chili because I was folding laundry on the couch and the timer never went off. The smoke detector went off and the fire alarm guy showed up, but the chili was beyond saving. After that, I started setting a separate alarm just for the stove, like ten minutes before anything is supposed to be done. It sounds dumb but it’s saved me from at least three more disasters since.

inFinally crossed the $10k emergency fund mark, but I'm not as excited as I thought
...and that's the thing about milestones, they always look better from the outside looking in. I remember when I finally paid off my credit card, felt like I'd won the lottery for about a day, then my transmission started making this weird whining noise and I was right back to square one. The water heater thing your buddy dealt with, that's the real enemy, not the number in the bank. You start realizing the goalposts move every time you think you've reached them, like one month you're stoked about groceries, the next you're pricing out roof repairs. Honestly, I think the excitement wears off because you finally see how fast $10k can vanish if one big thing goes sideways.
