Unpopular opinion: I washed my hair twice a day for years and a $4 bottle of baby shampoo fixed the mess I made
I used to think squeaky clean meant healthy, so I lathered up morning and night for maybe 4 years straight. Then in February my scalp got so itchy and flaky that my sister in Boise asked if I had dandruff or just dry skin. A stylist finally explained that washing that often strips the natural oils, and your scalp panics and makes even more grease to make up for it. She told me to cut back to every other day and switch to the gentlest thing on the shelf, which for me was a $4 bottle of baby shampoo. Two months later the flaking is gone and my ends don't snap off when I brush them anymore. I still use a deeper wash once a week when I've had product in it, but that's it. So here's my question, how often do you actually wash yours, and did anyone else have to learn this the hard way?
