Counted 11 worn chain pins on one tuneup and it hit me why we keep missing this
Pulled a bike off the rack Tuesday and ran my chain checker like normal. It showed 0.5 stretch, fine, replace the chain. But then I got curious and checked the pins one by one with a pick, and 11 of them had visible wear I could catch a fingernail on. The checker only measures between rollers, so it never flagged any of this. I had been trusting one tool for two different failure modes. How are you all catching pin wear before it eats a cassette?
