I finally got my broody hen to accept chicks after a week of trying

Vent: My shop just hit 10,000 hours on our old dyno without a major rebuild

We've been logging every run since 2018, and the original injectors are still holding spec. I was sure we'd need a rebuild at 8k. What's the most hours you've seen a dyno go before needing major work?

PSA: Tried a 24-hour cold ferment for my sourdough vs the usual 8-hour one

The longer ferment gave way more flavor and a better crumb, hands down. Anyone else have a sweet spot for bulk fermentation time?

Shoutout to my digital kitchen scale

For years I just used measuring cups for everything, but my cookies were always a bit flat. Last month I finally bought a cheap $15 scale and weighed the flour for my chocolate chip recipe. The batch came out PERFECT, way thicker and chewier than before. Has anyone else had a simple tool fix a baking problem they thought was just their skill?

Question about using a dental pick versus a proper spudger for ribbon cables

So I was fixing an old Canon AE-1 last week, and I needed to get under this tiny ribbon cable connector. My good spudger was across the shop, and I saw a dental pick I use for cleaning gunk out of tight spots. I thought, 'same shape, right?' Wrong. The pick slipped, gouged the cable's plastic housing, and I spent the next hour trying to find a replacement part online for about $12. When I finally used the right spudger on the next camera, it popped the connector up smooth as anything with no risk. The flat, blunt edge makes all the difference. Has anyone else learned the hard way that some tools just aren't close enough substitutes?
