Serious question, is internal cable routing worth the trouble for a home bike project?
I'm building a bike from old parts in my garage. Many folks say internal routing is a must, but I think external lines work fine and are simpler to fix. Do you really need the extra work for a home build?

Ever notice how everything these days has to look clean even if it's a pain to fix? Like phones you can't open or cars with panels hiding all the bolts. On a bike, internal routing looks slick but good luck fixing a snapped cable mid-ride. For a home project, keep it simple and save the trouble.

Good design prevents problems before they happen though. Most people never fix that stuff anyway.

Design should both prevent problems and be easy to fix.
