My bike computer clicked over 2,000 miles last Friday and I almost missed it
So I was riding home down Riverside Drive last Friday and happened to glance down at my cheap little computer and it said 2,000.3 miles. That number hit me because I got the bike about 14 months ago and I figured I'd ride maybe 3 miles a day, but it turns out my commute plus the grocery runs and the occasional detour to the coffee place on 5th added up way faster than I thought. What surprised me most was the money side of it. I sat down and did the math and I've spent about $110 on tubes, a new chain, and brake pads over that whole stretch, versus what I used to drop on gas and parking downtown. The weird part is I've never once felt like I was training for anything. I just ride to work, ride home, and that's it. Now I'm wondering if I should try for 5,000 by next summer or just keep coasting along and not jinx it. Has anyone else hit a number on their computer that snuck up on them like this, and did you change anything after?
