Unpopular opinion: I think dropping whole seasons at once has made TV less fun to watch with friends.

Binge releases let our group dive deep into plot threads right away. We noticed how character choices in episode one set up the whole season, and could debate it over pizza. Waiting weekly often means losing that tight focus as life gets in the way. Getting to the end together in one weekend makes the whole story feel like a shared event we all lived through.

Stranger Things season 3 releasing all episodes on one day created a perfect weekend for my friends and me. I am honestly shocked to hear you say it made TV less fun to watch together. We set up a big binge watch with snacks and talked about every episode without pause. The old weekly schedule meant someone always missed an episode and we had to avoid spoilers. Now, we all finish the story at the same time and have real conversations about it. That shared excitement is something we never had with weekly drops.

Think about how weekly episodes let everyone guess what happens next for weeks. Do you think binge watching kills that slow fun where people talk and guess together? I found with weekly drops my friends had more to chat about over time, not just in one sitting. What happens when you finish all episodes fast and then have nothing to look forward to? How do you deal with missing out on all the group excitement that builds up slowly?
