Hit 30 birds stopped this spring and it still feels weird to count

I put up those cheap hanging paracord curtains on my big living room window back in March after finding my 5th dead warbler, and yesterday I realized I've now logged 30 strikes that bounced off instead of hitting the glass. That number got me thinking, how many of those birds would have been hurt or worse if I hadn't bothered with the $12 fix? Has anyone else kept a tally like this, and did it make you want to cover every window in the house or just feel like you barely scratched the surface?

Man, I have to disagree with the way you're looking at that number. Thirty birds that bounced off and flew away is thirty birds that are still out there eating bugs and raising babies, and that is not "barely scratching the surface" by any stretch. You spent twelve bucks and saved thirty lives, and most people would call that a pretty good return. The "cover every window" feeling is real, but you don't have to do it all at once, and you don't have to feel bad about the ones you couldn't help. The window you fixed is working. That counts for something, even if it doesn't feel like enough some days.
