Barista in Portland told me my typing was too loud

I was at this shop on Division Street working on some code when the barista came over and asked if I could 'ease up on the mechanical keyboard.' I didn't realize my Cherry MX Blues were carrying through the whole shop. Switched to a quieter keyboard mat and started using a soft landing pad for my wrists and it made a huge difference. Has anyone else had to adjust their setup because of coffee shop noise complaints?

That $40 template set I bought off Amazon was actually worth it

I've always thought those router template sets were overpriced junk. But I needed to cut a bunch of drawer fronts for a kitchen job in Phoenix last month and didn't want to pay $200 for a premade jig. Grabbed a template kit for $40, figured I'd probably toss it after one use. Spent 20 minutes setting it up and it cut dead-on consistent holes for all 12 pulls. I know we all cut corners sometimes (myself included) but I grabbed a 4-pack of those no-name booth intake filters for $28 last Tuesday. First job was a Dodge Charger in bright red. By the second fender, the airflow dropped so bad I had orange peel on the clear coat. Had to stop mid-job and run to the local supply house for name brand ones at $18 each. The cheap ones looked like a dirty vacuum bag. Has anyone else had a supplier switch their filter stock without warning? I'm wondering if mine were just old stock dried out.

Drywall patch cracked in 3 days - should I go mesh or paper tape?

Hung a big patch in my hallway last Tuesday. 3x4 foot hole from a plumbing fix. Used paper tape and pre-mixed compound. Cracking right along the seam by Friday. My buddy swears by mesh tape for patches this big. Says it holds better on wide gaps. But I've read mesh can crack worse over time. Tried sanding and re-mudding the paper tape tonight. Already seeing tiny hairline cracks forming. What's the general consensus here? Mesh tape on big repairs or stick with paper and live with the flaws?
