Stick on dots vs. soap stripes... I went with the dots
I was trying to figure out how to stop cardinals from hitting my big picture window. I didn't want to mess with soap or paint since my wife hates the look. I bought a roll of those UV reflective window decals, the little dot kind, for like 12 bucks at the hardware store. Put them in a pattern about 4 inches apart and I swear I haven't heard a thump in two weeks. Has anyone else had luck with those cheap window clings?

My daughter bought the same dots for her apartment after a robin kept hitting her sliding door three times in one morning... she put them up in a diamond pattern and the bird still came back but now it just sits on the railing staring at them like it's confused. The package said they last about 6 months in direct sun but hers started peeling after 4 weeks because of the humidity here in Florida. I told her to just buy another pack since they're cheap enough and the cardinals around my place haven't flown into the glass since I put mine up either.

Read somewhere the UV ones actually reflect bird vision better than the plain decals.
