Unpopular opinion: I switched from a standard toolkit to a full iFixit Pro kit last year

Isn't it funny how a simple upgrade like a magnetic tray can totally change your whole repair mood? @margaret_flores17, you're right that panic searching shouldn't just be accepted as normal, and the iFixit kit basically stops that before it starts. It's just nice to have a system that actually works with you instead of making you hunt for stuff.

TIL the Hoover Dam used enough concrete to pave a two-lane highway from San Francisco to New York

Honestly, breaking it into smaller trips helped me feel less silly about my own project.

Realized my bumper sticker lettering was too small after I drove past a car with one of mine

Holy crap, I never even thought about that from a branding angle. Like, you see these big companies with their logos and text on trucks and billboards and you just assume that stuff scales perfectly. But yeah, the difference between a laptop screen and real life is huge. It makes you wonder how many small businesses waste money on signage that nobody can actually read from a distance.

Shoutout to the dollar store silicone spatula I grabbed on a whim

Yeah I grabbed a cheap dollar store spatula too and it's still going strong after a year... sometimes the cheap stuff just works better for no reason. My expensive one fell apart way faster than I expected honestly. It's weird how the handle on those cheap ones doesn't get hot at all. Makes me wonder why I spent so much on the fancy brand in the first place.

Spent 30 minutes trying to pair my earbuds before realizing they were in my jacket pocket the whole time

My coworker Jen told me she once spent 45 minutes troubleshooting her laptop that wouldn't charge, only to realize she'd plugged the power cord into the USB port instead of the charging port. I laughed so hard when she told me that, but honestly I've done similar stuff way too many times. The worst for me was when I kept tapping my phone screen thinking it was frozen, but it was actually on the calculator app the whole time. We all have those moments where our brain just checks out for a bit, so don't worry about feeling dumb haha.
