Warning: tape on the outside of my window did nothing, this 1 thing cut strikes to zero
Two springs back, I put masking tape strips on the outside of my sliding door after a robin hit it twice in one morning. Kept finding feathers on the glass for 3 more weeks. Then my neighbor at our place in Boise showed me her setup: those little dot decals on the OUTSIDE surface, spaced about 2 inches apart, covering the full pane. Zero strikes since April. The tape lines were too far apart and the birds flew right between them. Has anyone tried the paracord strips instead of dots?
Wait, she put the dots on the outside surface of the glass? I always figured decals went on the inside so they would not peel off in the weather. That is wild to me because I would worry about rain and sun wrecking the adhesive within a season. So the dots sit right out there in the elements and still hold up fine? Also how did the tape only last 3 weeks before you gave up on it, I feel like I would have ripped it off way sooner after seeing feathers again. The 2 inch spacing is the part that really gets me, seems so close together.
