Bought a $180 "beginner" anvil off a guy in Tulsa and it dented on my 4th heat
Honestly I should've known when he wouldn't let me test it with a hammer before paying. Got it home, rang it with a tap and it just went thud, no ring at all. Fourth heat on a simple hook and the face had a dent the size of my thumb, turns out it was cast iron painted grey to look like steel. $180 gone and I got a doorstop now. What's your go-to test before handing over cash for a used anvil?
