Dropped $95 on a rail road spike knife blank and it snapped on the third whack
Bought one of those pre-forged spike knife blanks at a show in Tulsa because the guy swore it was ready to finish, and the thing cracked clean through at the tang after 3 hits on my anvil. Now I'm out $95 and a Saturday, so am I crazy for thinking you should just start from a real spike, or do some of you actually get good results from these blanks?
