That stuck punch pin at the shop near Scranton

I was driving out a stubborn pin from a hammer head last Tuesday and the punch got wedged so bad I thought I'd have to grind it out. Took a break, came back and tapped it sideways with a 2 lb sledge at a slight angle, and it just popped loose after 15 minutes. The trick was not forcing it straight on, I kept fighting it dead center for way too long. Has anyone else had luck with the angled tap trick or do you just soak things in penetrating oil first?

That pin just needed a little persuasion from the side, my arm was about to give up on it too.
