Shoutout to the guy at Micro Center who watched me struggle with Blender for 20 minutes
I was in Micro Center in Chicago two weeks ago buying a mouse and I overheard a kid telling his dad that he taught himself Blender in 3 days just from YouTube shorts. It made me think back to how I learned, sitting at my desk with a 400 page paperback manual I got for $5 at a used book store, flipping pages for an hour just to figure out how to enter edit mode. Back then a single donut tutorial took me three weekends because I kept losing my place when the video skipped ahead, and now people are learning the whole program in a weekend from clips shorter than a song. Kind of makes me wonder if I would have stuck with it if I started today, or if the slow pace was actually what made things stick. Anyone else here learn from an old book or DVD instead of YouTube, and do you think it made a difference?
