Took me 6 hours to figure out my donut was inside out
I was following a tutorial for a simple donut and the icing kept showing up as a weird dark shell instead of sitting on top. I spent about 6 hours over two evenings redoing the icing fill, checking normals, and reading forum posts from 2019, when the real issue was that my icing object had flipped normals and I was looking at the inside of it the whole time from my camera angle. Pressing Shift+N in edit mode fixed it in about 3 seconds. If your mesh looks wrong from one side but fine from another, check the normals first. Anyone know why Blender doesn't just auto-fix flipped normals on primitives?
