I finally hit a moral snag over correcting a game rule mid-match

Watching my opponent's joy from a wrong move made me pause and think about sportsmanship.

Let the moment play out if it's not a tournament setting. I've waited until after the game to say "hey, for next time, the actual rule is this." It keeps the fun alive while still fixing things for future matches. People remember how you made them feel more than the score.

That approach saved my weekly game night from so many arguments.

Ask yourself if it's worth ruining the mood. Games are supposed to be fun, not a rule lawyering contest. Seeing someone happy over a move is kinda cool, even if it's wrong. Correcting them right away just makes you look like a buzzkill. Unless money is on the line, who cares about a minor rule slip? Let people have their wins, fake or not, it's all good.
