The 45 minute stat on BGG changed how I buy games forever
I was poking around the stats page on BoardGameGeek last week and found out the average game in their database gets played so few times that the median play count is basically a joke, like under 3 logged plays. I sat there in my living room in Bakersfield staring at my own shelf of 60 plus boxes and realized I am part of the problem. I own maybe 12 games I have never even punched the cardboard on, and I keep telling myself the next one will be different. The kicker is the site even tracks this stuff, so I could see my own numbers next to everyone else's, and my top game only has 9 plays in a whole year. That fact hit harder than any review ever has, honestly. So now I have a rule where a new box does not come in the door until an old one gets 5 plays logged. How many logged plays does your most played game actually have, and be honest about it?
