That new flux-cored wire I tried on a 3/4 plate nearly cost me a redo
Swapped my usual solid wire for a spool of that gasless flux core last Tuesday on a structural job over in Gary. The weld looked okay on the surface but I noticed the slag was pulling funny, so I ground one pass down and there was porosity hiding underneath. Went straight back to my 0.035 with the tri-mix and it ran clean as ever. Anyone else had flux core lie to them on thicker material like this, or was I just pushing too hot?
