Hot take: Our book club stopped endless plot debates with a new method
We kept going in circles over whether a book's ending was happy or sad. I finally had everyone write down their view before we talked, then shared the results. Now some folks say this prep work leads to deeper, more focused chats. But others feel it kills the spontaneity and fun of just reacting in the moment. Should book clubs use pre discussion notes to guide debates?

Totally see this in meetings where too much prep kills the fun.

Kills the fun" is a weird way to look at it, @raym68. A little prep just stops people from wasting everyone's time figuring out their basic thoughts out loud. It actually makes the good discussions happen faster.

My book club tried those prep notes last month and it actually got people more invested. I mean, having your thoughts sorted first lets you jump past the obvious stuff.
