inLogged my 200th backyard observation and Saturn still gives me goosebumps every time
Man, I gotta push back on this one. Keeping a count just turns a chill night under the stars into a chore where you're chasing a number instead of actually looking up, and before you know it you're skipping clear skies because you already hit your quota for the week. Plus a $15 stopwatch and a notebook isn't really doing anything for you, you'd get the same awe out of Saturn whether it's night 5 or night 500, so the tally is just clutter in my book. And let's be real, half the fun of this hobby is losing track of time out there, not logging it like you're clocking in at a job. If you ditched the notebook for a month I bet you wouldn't miss it at all, you'd just be out there staring at rings like the rest of us, lol.

inWarning: don't buy those cheap velcro cable wraps in bulk
The peeling after a month thing is the worst, had the same mess on a power strip behind my desk. What finally worked for me was switching to the hook and loop ones with a real brand name on the bag, like the Velcro brand ones they sell at hardware stores. They cost more per wrap but I've had a set going on three years now with no goo. Also helps to wipe down the cables with alcohol before you wrap them, the sticky stuff sticks way better to clean plastic.

Started using an AI tool to sort my dad's 4,000 scanned family photos and now I'm weirdly emotional about it
Yes! Mine keeps tagging my uncle as my dad, so annoying.
