Two book clubs, one in-person and one online, and I'm picking the one that reads at a normal pace
I joined a local group last month and they finished the whole 400 page novel before our first meeting, so the discussion was basically people arguing about the ending they already spoiled. The online group I found reads one chapter a week, which feels slow but at least I can actually join in. Has anyone else ditched a faster club for a slower one and regretted it or loved it?
Totally get the frustration with a club that races ahead, but did you give the online group a real chance to build momentum? I was in the same boat last year, my in-person club flew through books and I felt like I was always playing catch-up. The weekly chapter thing felt painfully slow at first, but honestly, it was the first time I actually finished every book and had stuff to say. I stuck with the slow group for about six months and never once wished I was back with the speed demons. Sometimes the pace just needs to match your life, not the other way around.
