I thought wheat paste was just for grade school projects until my spine cracked at the third signature
My linen thread kept pulling through the spine folds on a 400 page rebind last month, and an old binder at the Kansas City guild meeting told me to brush on wheat paste before stitching. I figured it was just cheap glue for kids, but the fold held tight on the next book and never tore. What do you all use for reinforcing signatures before sewing?
