Rebinding my grandma's 1952 recipe book made me rethink how I fold signatures
Last month I finally sat down to fix my grandma's recipe book, a 1952 edition held together with duct tape and hope, and I was ready to fold each signature the way I always have, all six sheets in one pass. Halfway through the third section the crease started wandering and the pages sat crooked in the case. I tried folding one sheet at a time and bone-folding each fold flat before stacking them, and the next three signatures lined up dead straight in about 20 minutes total. Turns out my "fast" method was why I kept fighting the sewing round at the end. Now I want to know if anyone else here folds page by page, or am I late to this? And does it mess with anyone's grain direction when the paper fights back?
