Showerthought: my old shop teacher said never skive past the grain line, and 14 years later a Bible repair in Lansing proved him right
Mr. Kowalski ran the bindery class at my trade school and kept saying that one line over and over. I figured it was just something old guys say, so I pushed a skive too far on a crumbling 1890s Bible last spring and it split right along the grain. Took me two evenings to rebuild the spine piece from scratch. Anyone else still hear their teacher's voice mid-project like that?
