Watered my peace lily with tap water for a year. Big mistake.

Found out last month my peace lily was dying because of tap water. The leaf tips were all brown. Looked like it got burned. I live in Phoenix where the water is hard as a rock. Three months of filtered water later and it's pushing out new leaves like crazy. My neighbor swore by distilled water but I thought she was being extra. Guess I was wrong. Anyone else deal with hard water killing their houseplants?

Oh man, I feel your pain so much! I had the exact same problem with my peace lily when I first started keeping houseplants. The leaf tips turned brown and crispy within like two weeks of using my tap water here in Tucson. It was so frustrating because I was watering it the same amount, same light, everything... but it just kept looking sad. Switch to filtered water and it bounced back within a month, putting out new leaves like it was trying to make up for lost time. My spider plant was even worse though, those brown tips got so bad I thought it might just give up entirely.

@juliawalker hit it - my fern went full brown in a week with Phoenix tap water, total nightmare.
