Rant: That $140 moisture meter was a total waste of cash

I bought a fancy digital moisture meter last spring for a patio job in Fresno. It kept giving me wild readings on the pavers, so I second-guessed my mix and redid a whole section. Turned out the meter was just garbage out of the box, and my original mortar was fine. Spent 5 extra hours and the money on that thing. Anyone else swear off fancy gadgets and stick with the old tap test?

Been there with those cheap sensors lying to me. Tap test and a good eye never fail.
