Saw the new library going up with imitation stone instead of brick. Makes me wonder if it'll last like the old brick buildings did. What do you all think?

Wait, they're calling it imitation stone? That's just fancy concrete with texture sprayed on. It's wild that we build things to look like they're from one era but use materials from another. Real stone lasts centuries because it's, you know, stone. This stuff cracks if you look at it wrong. I give it thirty years before it looks sad. Future archeologists are going to be so confused.

My apartment complex used that fake stone veneer on the entryway pillars. Two winters in and the freeze-thaw cycle already made a big chunk pop off. It's the same cheap-out logic behind vinyl flooring that mimics wood grain.
