Spent about $80 on a new pair of knee pads last month and they already saved me a trip to urgent care.

Eighty dollars for knee pads is wild. I bought a pair at the hardware store for maybe fifteen bucks and they've held up for years. What are they made of, some kind of space-age foam? I guess if they stopped a serious injury it's worth it, but still. That price tag is a shock to the system.

But what kind of work are you doing in those fifteen-dollar pads?

Right? How can a bit of foam and plastic cost that much? My cheap ones from the hardware aisle are totally fine for laying flooring or fixing the deck. They're just a little sweaty and bulky. I keep looking at the expensive ones thinking there's no way the comfort is eight times better. It feels like you're just paying for the brand name at a certain point.
