Why does nobody mention wetting the brick before laying in hot weather? Saved me in Phoenix last July
Was laying a garden wall in 108 degree heat and the mortar kept drying out on me. Joints crumbled when I went to tool them. My old foreman told me to dunk the bricks in a bucket of water for a few seconds before setting them. Cut my joint failures to almost nothing that week. The brick pulls too much water out of the mortar when it's that hot and dry. Anyone else got a trick for keeping mud workable in the heat?
