My mason jar coffee setup hit 400 cups and I finally did the math on what I used to spend
Back in 2019 I was buying a $5 latte every workday at the place near my office in Portland, which added up to about $1,200 a year. Then a friend gave me a $12 pour over cone and a $9 bag of beans, and I figured it would last a month before I caved. I started keeping a tally on the lid of an old mason jar, just a tick mark for every cup, mostly to prove I was saving money. Last night I counted the marks and I was at 402 cups, which means that same $21 setup has carried me through almost a full year of mornings. The beans cost me maybe $10 a bag and I go through one every two weeks, so the whole thing runs about $260 a year now. Curious if anyone else has a cheap habit that quietly outlasted the fancy version they used to pay for.
