My thrift store find that changed my kitchen for $7

I found this copper pot at a Goodwill in Austin last Saturday for $7. My friend Claire told me to test it with a magnet before buying, but I ignored her because it looked so nice. Got it home and it was just plated aluminum with a loose handle, completely useless for cooking. Now I use it as a fancy flower vase on my counter and it looks bougie as heck. Anyone else have a thrift flop that turned into a decoration win?

okay so my mom actually does this thing where she buys broken kitchen stuff specifically to repurpose it, she found this old enamel bread box that was all chipped and rusty inside, totally gross for food obviously, but she cleaned it up and uses it to store her seed packets and gardening gloves by the back door, and honestly it looks way cuter than those plastic organizer boxes from the home depot, so maybe the real trick is going in already knowing you want a decoration and not a tool, takes the disappointment out of it completely

Wait, has your mom ever tried using an old muffin tin for organizing little stuff like screws or beads? @the_julia that bread box idea is so smart, I love how she turned something gross into something cute. I did something similar with a dented metal lunchbox I found at a flea market, it holds my plant markers and twine now and looks way better than a plastic bin. Honestly, once you stop expecting thrifted finds to be perfect for their original purpose, it frees you up to see them as blank slates for whatever weird project you have. What's the best thing she's repurposed so far?
