The $3 rotisserie chicken at Costco finally made me look at my grocery list
I was buying four chicken breasts for $14 every Sunday without even thinking about it. My roommate grabbed a whole cooked rotisserie chicken for $4.99 and I watched him eat off it for three meals plus make soup from the bones. That's when it hit me that I was paying three times as much for less food and more work. I ran the numbers on my grocery spending from the past month and realized I could cut my meat budget by almost half just by buying whole cooked birds. Do you guys break them down into containers right away or eat them fresh and shred the rest later?
You said you could cut your meat budget by almost half, but did you factor in the cost of the bags and containers you're putting the shredded meat in? Curious if the savings still hold up once you add all that up.
